Biography Born in East Malaysia, Victor Yong is now base in Vancouver, Canada. He is quickly building his reputation as a professional and versatile session guitarist known for his accountability in getting the job done the way it was intended. His wide interests in music range from Country to Latin, Hard Rock to light Jazz. Victor enjoys a challenge to play different types of music as it opens up his mind to experience other forms and styles of playing. Robbie King (Mr. Motown) while backing up Motown artist Riley
Inge. His early years have seen him in the UBC Jazz band
under the direction of the Late great trombonist/conductor Dave
Robbins. His work as a guitarist/arranger can be found

Over the years, Victor has worked with HK/Vancouver music director/keyboardist Tony Arevalo Jr., Dave Robbins, Randall Stoll, Elliot Polsky, Lou Mastroianni, Doug Stephenson, David Phyall, Nick Apivor, Karlis Silins, Michael Rush, etc. Victor's influences range from Holdsworth, Metheny to Lloyd-Weber to Coltrane, Rollins to Jobim. And not forgetting the Rock influence as well from the 60s-70s era. ...et al... Currently Victor is keeping busy working as a session player, running his own band The Orient Express specialising in Asian music and of course his own personal project with the release of his own CD Dawn of the Carnival. |
